Nena Baker Barnwell Funeral services for Nena Baker Barnwell, 99, of Ruston, LA will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 14, 2011 at Grace United Methodist Church with Rev. Hulen Warren officiating the service. Interment will follow in Wilder Cemetery in Ruston, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Mrs. Barnwell was born in Jena, LA on August 11, 1911 and died on March 11, 2011 in Ruston, LA. She was a Charter member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Women's Circle at Grace. Mrs. Barnwell was also a member of the Louisiana Tech Faculty Wives; Cub Scout Den Mother; and the Ruston Art Association. She enjoyed oil painting most of her adult life. One of her dearest friends said “she had a smile that would light up a whole room”. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Hampton Barnwell. Mrs. Barnwell is survived by her children; Patricia Ann Barnwell, MD of Richmond, KY; Robert William Barnwell of Camden, AR; Jane Olivia Barnwell, MD and husband Nelson Hochberg of Flagstaff, AZ; brothers; William Morgan Baker of Jena, LA; John Fletcher Baker of Clinton, MS: nephews; William Morgan Baker, Samuel Hunt Baker, James Fletcher Baker, Joseph David Baker, Daniel Morgan Baker; and niece, Nena Elizabeth Baker. Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church; Louisiana Tech Dept. of Mechanical Engineering; or Hospice of Caring Hearts. Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
