Jane Jones left a message on February 28, 2024:
Nelson was one of the kindest men I have ever known. My husband and I first met him when a mutual friend, Dale Welch, invited Bob to volunteer at the First West Thrift Shop with him on Tuesday mornings. He also invited Nelson. They, plus Wayne, enjoyed some great times there "testing Christmas tree lights and lamps". Dale would take Bob and Nelson to lunch and then bring Bob home. That was the highlight of his week and he enjoyed getting to know and spend time with Nelson. After Bob had to move to the West Monroe Guest House, Nelson would often stop by to visit him. Bob looked forward to his visits. I was always glad when I was there at the time also. Nelson loved his wife and would talk to us about their life together. He was so caring of her. He was quiet and a man of few words, but they were always enjoyed. I loved when he would laugh at something and his face would light up. We were so sad to hear of his fall and Dale kept us informed of his progress. We are both so sorry about his passing and we want you to know we are praying for you at this time. He truly was a very special man and will be missed. We are grateful to Dale for introducing us and for the time we spent with him.
