Funeral services for Nelda Caldwell Channell, 86, of West Monroe, will be held Wednesday, August 8th, 2007, at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of the Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe with Rev. Larry Stafford officiating. Interment will follow in the Bernice Cemetery under the direction of the Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. Born May 24th, 1921, in Bernice, LA, Mrs. Channell was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of Monroe. A graduate of Louisiana Tech University, she was a retired elementary school teacher with the Ouachita Parish School System. Mrs. Channell passed away in Monroe on August 4th, 2007. Survivors include two sons, David Channell and Duane Channell and wife, Carolyn; a daughter, Diana Chenevert and husband, David; and 4 grandchildren. Family members will serve as pallbearers. I remember Nelda especially for the wonderful programs she planned when she was president of ADK - and she always thought she did badly.

Dear, David, Duane Diana and families I am sorry to hear about the death of your mother, she certainly brings back fond memories of our trips to Monroe for John and I growing up. My mother called yesterday afternoon after hearing the news from Pearl and Caldwell Harris. My mother Joyce Goodson is living in Edgemere Retirement Home in Dallas TX where John and his family live. We lost our father John Goodson last November. After he passed away, having lived with Parkinson√É¬≠s for a number of years, mother was more comfortable not living alone. I live in Lafayette, , LA where I am in the energy business. We are all sorry that we will not be able to attend the funeral but find comfort in Nelda being buried next to my Grand parents Tom and Claudia Miller.
