Price Cemetery in Logansport, La. under the direction of Reverend Nancy Wofford.Nancy Lee Garland was born November 28, 1947 to Peggy Moseley Garland and Dr. W. J. Garland of Logansport, La. Nancy childhood was filled with many fond memories of growing up in small town Louisiana. She often recalled enjoying the freedom that came along with small town life. Her father was the town doctor and her mother served as office manager for his practice. Growing up she was especially close to her two paternal aunts, Doris Dowling and Frances Alston. She often spoke of their love, kindness and importance in her life. Another very influential person in her life, also helping raise her, was dear friend, AlMertise Wilson. Nancy was a 1965 graduate from Logansport High School and a member of the United Methodist Church of Logansport. In 1975, she married high school sweetheart Bill Morgan. In 1976, they welcomed their daughter, Taylor Christine. The Morgan made their home in Ruston in 1980. Nancy was a life-long animal lover. She began showing her Irish Setters in conformation dog shows and later showed Bearded Collies. Andy, her black and white, male Beardie reached AKC Champion Status. The Morgan very much enjoyed living in Ruston during the Louisiana Tech Lady Techster hayday. Watching the Lady Techsters became a family hobby and they traveled to see them play in places as far as Hawaii. In the mid-80 Nancy returned to college to finish her degree. She graduated from Louisiana Tech in 1988 in Social Work. She worked for the Louisiana Alternative Foster Care Program. Over the years, Bill and Nancy fostered numerous children in foster care who had specialized behavioral needs. They were honored as Foster Parents of the Year for the state of Louisiana. Nancy was called to help children in need at around age seven when a representative from the United Methodist Children Home spoke to her church congregation one Sunday. She never realized there were children who needed forever homes. Later that day she asked her mother if they could adopt a few children from the children home. The answer was no but years later she got her wish becoming a visiting resource for the Methodist Children Home and then a foster parent. Nancy provided exceptional care and love to children who needed it most. She was ever-patient, forgiving and thought outside of the box. Her perseverance as foster mother was unmatched and those efforts now shine in the lives of many others. Most importantly longtime foster daughter Susie Ainsworth Corbett who came to the Morgan home at age four. In the early 90, the Morgan moved to the country just north of Ruston to the home they call Hickory Hill. Soon after, they opened Hickory Hill Boarding Kennel where Nancy very much enjoyed taking care of the animals and made many wonderful friends along the way. Nancy was an incredible wife, mother, Ya Ya and friend. She was warm, kind, loyal, selfless and level headed. A friend once joked saying Nancy had a magic wand always ready to fix problems for those she loved. That was true of her even in her last days.
