Sara Ann Baskin Napper, a lifelong resident of Ruston, LA, passed away on August 7, 2022 in Ruston. She was the wife of the late Laurice Dean “Buddy” Napper.
Sara Ann was born May 10, 1927, in Ruston to the late Sanders and Gladys Baskin. She had one brother, the late William S. Baskin of Ruston. After attending Ruston High School and Louisiana Tech University, she married Buddy and established their home in Ruston. Sara Ann developed lifelong friendships through being involved in many civic and service organizations. She was an avid bridge player, playing in several weekly groups. Having the gift of hospitality, her home was always open to entertaining, whether hosting events for friends, Buddy’s business associates or bridge club. Sara Ann also took pleasure in sharing her homemade banana pudding and pickles with her friends. Saturday Lunch Bunch was a highlight in her week.
Trinity United Methodist Church was where Sara Ann faithfully attended and served for years. She took the Sunday bulletins to the Russ House residents where she walked the halls to say hello to the residents.
She is survived by her children, Suzan Martin and the late Wallace Martin, Katherine and James Freeman, Laura and Greg Champion.
She also leaves behind grandchildren Greg and Beth Martin, Baskin and Jay Robbins, Mark and Jennifer Freeman, Chris and Amber Freeman, Luke and Lauren Freeman, Joshua and Brianna Champion, Sarah Baskin and Andrew McFarland, Abby Champion and Luke Champion. Also, numerous great grandchildren will miss their “Grand Napper”.
Sara Ann had special relationships with niece, Karen Baskin VanDyke and nephew, Lue and Becky Napper.
Visitation will be held on August 11, 2022, from 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at Kilpatrick Funeral Homes in Ruston.
Graveside service will be at 11:00 A.M. at the Simsboro Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes in Ruston. Greg Champion will officiate the services.
Pallbearers will be Greg Martin, Greg Champion, Josh Champion, Parks McConnell, Luke Freeman and Mark Freeman.
