Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Dickerson will be held at 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at Parkview Baptist Church in Monroe. Officiating will be Dr. Whit Holmes. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes of Monroe. Mrs. Dickerson was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, J.C. “Dick” Dickerson; parents, Ben and Myrtis Cowart; 3 sisters; her brother, Hewitt Cowart and a great grandson, L.J. Thompson. Marie is survived by her children, Wade Dickerson and his wife, Debbie of Monroe; Suzanne Dickerson Hall and her husband, James of Monroe; Scott Dickerson of Dallas; grandchildren, Hewitt Hall and his wife, Emily of Monroe; Kelsey Hall Istre and her husband, Michael of Monroe; Lisa Whittington Lodgen and her husband, Jeff of Monroe; and Jennifer Whittington Wilson and her husband, Ricky of Monroe; brother, Rex Cowart and his wife, Nel of Summit, MS, brother-in-laws, Dealos Moak of Summit, MS, and Joe Dickerson of Dallas, TX; sister-in-law, Joyce Dickerson Renfroe and husband, Bubba of Baytown, TX; great grandchildren, Carter Lodgen, Maddy Lodgen and Kalie Wilson all of Monroe; and nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and a host of other family members and dear friends. Marie was retired from the West Monroe Guest House as the Activities Coordinator. Marie was a lifelong member of Parkview Baptist Church where she was affectionately called the “flower lady” because of her love and talent of arranging flowers for many events at the church, especially weddings. She was a church hostess, Sunday school teacher, committee member, and a member of the Faith Sunday school class. She was also active in the Senior Bowling League. She also loved fishing and enjoyed the outdoors at her camp “Po Boy Hill” on Lake D'Arbonne. Marie was known for being the “ultimate volunteer”. Her servant heart, volunteer spirit and contagious laughter will long be remembered by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to honor Marie's legacy to the Parkview Baptist Church Fellowship Hall Sound System and Restoration Project or to the charity of the donor's choice. Pallbearers will be Hewitt Hall, Jeff Lodgen, Michael Istre, Lance Cowart, Keith Joyner and Rev. Terry Barnes. Honorary pallbearers will be all her “boyfriends”. Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M, Monday, August 9, 2010, at Parkview Baptist Church in Monroe
