Funeral services for Mr. Mansford "Big John" Parker, 84, will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday in the Chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Officiating will be Billy Ledbetter. Interment will follow at Monroe Memorial Park on Highway 80 under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Mr. Parker was born on August 27, 1921 and passed away on June 1, 2006. Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his wife: Mildred Marcell Parker; parents: Fannie and Marion Parker; sisters: Elizabeth Perry, Floy Trull and Irene Russell; brothers: George Parker and Fred Parker. He is survived by his daughters: Sue Dennis and husband Bill of West Monroe and Sandra Ledbetter of Monroe; grandson: Eddie Lucas of West Monroe; brother: Archie Parker of Monroe. Mr. Parker was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army after serving in World War II and received many medals. They were the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars, Philippine Liberation with one Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart GO #33 Hq 81st Inf 29, Silver Star Medal GO #6, Hq 81st Inf Div and the Victory Medal. Mr. Parker enjoyed yard work and tending to his flowers. He also enjoyed spending time on the lake and admiring the ducks. He enjoyed good meals with his family. Visitation will be 5-7 P.M., Friday, June 2, 2006 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe.
