On Thursday, March 12, 2020, John Paul Hogan, a kind, loving, funny, father, brother, son and uncle passed away at the age of 33. John was born May 5, 1986 in Monroe, Louisiana to OW and Alice Hogan. He was homeschooled through junior high then attended West Monroe High School. He was always a very intelligent and creative student. John was extremely artistic and a very talented drummer. He always knew exactly what to say or do to cheer you up and could make anyone laugh. In September 2011 he married Elizabeth Williams Hogan. He loved her and her family selflessly. Elizabeth’s sister Ava, always held a very special place in his heart and he treated her as his own. Their son, John William Hogan, was born on March 13, 2015. His son meant everything to him, he was an amazing and loving father. John was an avid reader, loved watching movies, and dedicated to working out. He was a generous, compassionate man and dedicated to help others in any way possible. His favorite verse and words he lived by were “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Always an animal lover, he was especially bonded with his dog, Ezra. He was a unique soul who fiercely loved and showed that love in many ways. John Paul is preceded in death by his grandfathers, O W Hogan Sr. and Everett Carruth, grandmother Irene Storm, uncle Wade Carruth, and infant nephew Cohen Coates Hogan.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Hogan, son John William Hogan, parents OW Hogan, Jr. and Alice Carruth; grandmother Mildred Hogan; sister Alison Daniels and husband Ben; sister Angie Watson and husband Chris; brother Josh Hogan and wife Michelle, Shane Hogan and Shawn Hogan; sister-in-law Ava Williams and m other-in-law Dana Williams, along with several beloved nieces and nephews.
John Paul is intensely loved, will never be forgotten and will always be in our hearts.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 18, 2020 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Visitation will be held from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Start Cemetery, Start, LA.
