Mike was born on July 23, 1952 in Monroe, Louisiana and passed away on March 25, 2023 in Calhoun, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orval and Laverne Elmore Crocker.
With his infectious personality, eloquent command of the spoken word, and quirky sense of humor, to know Mike was to love him. In fact, most everyone in Calhoun did know him, having served as the rural mail carrier in that area for over 33 years. Through countless miles, Mike was quick to share a laugh, a helping hand, a cup of coffee, or whatever he could offer to everyone he met.
Burdened with receiving both the brains and the beauty in his family (by his own estimation), Mike made sure that his two younger sisters and baby brother understood his sacrifice in saving them from both. As a dutiful brother, Mike provided both counsel and good-natured ribbing in healthy doses at every opportunity. Mike remained close to his siblings, looking forward to their frequent gatherings.
Mike shared a special bond with his grandchildren. From his recitation of the Crocker unabridged version of children’s stories to the unapologetic way he would dispatch even the youngest of child in a board game, all of his grandchildren knew that an afternoon at Mawmaw and Pawpaw’s was going to be a good time. To his kids, he was all of this and so much more. A source of (often unsolicited) sound advice, loving support, and abounding wisdom, Mike earned the love and respect of all of his children.
With his bride Lisa at his side, Mike created a loving and joyful environment for everyone that had the fortune of being in their company. Notwithstanding the occasional miscommunication or error in judgement (almost solely by Mike), they shared 27 years of love and laughter surrounded by those that admire them most. Mike, Michael Gene, Daddy, and Pawpaw was greatly loved, and will be sorely missed.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Carter Crocker; children, Nick Crocker (Damaris), Justin Crocker (Ashley), Bradley Hearne, Chris Hearne (Bobby), Natalie Massey, Megan Beck (Joey), Jason Hearne (Jacklyn); eighteen grandchildren; one great – grandchildren; sisters, Janie Gayle Holman (Jim), Robin Cox (Phillip); brother, T.O. Crocker (Charlene).
