Funeral services for Michael Ray Mike Morehead will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, January 20, 2020 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe with Bro. Bobby Krantz officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at the funeral home.Mike had previously attended Peniel Baptist and Cypress Baptist Church and recently became a member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Downsville, LA. He was a member of the American Legion, the National Rifle Association, Tip Top Hunting Club, Cleanwater Bass Club and Ouachita Senior Bass Club. Mike was an avid fisherman and hunter.Mike is preceded in death by his parents, George W. Morehead and Mildred A. Morehead; three brothers, Billy J. Morehead, George L. Morehead, and Stephen Morehead; and one sister, Virginia MacCallum.Mike is survived by his wife JoAnne M. Morehead; son, Derek A. Morehead; stepdaughter, Gina Jackson; two brothers, Richard Morehead and Melvin Morehead; two sisters, Cathy McGuire and Sherri Morehead, four grandchildren, Brittany Sanchez, Bailey Jackson, Alex Morehead, and Devon Morehead, and numerous nephews and cousins.Mike joined the U.S. Army in 1966 and was commissioned a 1st LT in Vietnam in 1968 and 1969 and was awarded The Bronze Star Medal, The Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, 2 Overseas Service Bars, The National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He served as Captain and Commanding Officer of Co. C 527th Engineer BN in the LA National Guard, West Monroe, LA from 1971 through 1975.
