Services for Mary Kathryn Williams, 82, of Oak Ridge will be at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, April 21, 2011, at North Monroe Baptist Church with Associate Pastor Warren Eckhardt officiating. Visitation will be at North Monroe Baptist Church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be at the Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes of Monroe. Mrs. Williams was born March 3, 1929 in Oak Grove, Louisiana, and died Monday, April 18th, at St. Francis Hospital after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Williams was the wife of Clarke M. Williams, founder and Chairman of CenturyLink. In the early days, Mrs. Williams would accompany Mr. Williams on acquisition trips and she gracefully stepped into a role that initially meant many sacrifices for the Williams family. Throughout their lives, she was his partner in marriage, family, community activities, and business. Mrs. Williams is survived by her daughters, Annette Carroll and husband Don of Oak Grove, Carolyn Perry and husband Harvey, and daughter in law, Vicki Husted all of Monroe. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Molly Williams, Daniel A. Ogg, Jr., Damian W. Ogg, Mary Kathryn Perry Edwards and husband, Eric, Clarke M. Williams, III, “Trey”, and Jonathan M. Perry and wife, Holley. She was proud of her 7 great-grandchildren, Richard Wesley Ogg, Mary Claire Pleasant, Lauren Pleasant, Madyson Ogg, Caroline Pleasant, Ellie Edwards and Adler Edwards. She adored her many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her father and mother, George Leroy and Ola Mae Thompson Lee, her husband Clarke M. Williams, her son, Clarke M. Williams, Jr., her sister Maxie Arnold, and husband Seth, her sisters in law, Kittie Marie Shaw and Mary Lee Oglesby. During her life Mrs. Williams was a strong supporter of numerous charitable organizations, namely, Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of American Colonists, Daughters of 1812, Daughters of Colonial Wars, United Daughters of the Confederacy, First Families of Mississippi, Louisiana Chapter BB, P.E.O., Louisiana Baptist Children's Home and Girl Scouts of Louisiana – Pines to the Gulf. Pallbearers will be Glen F. Post III, R. Stewart Ewing, W. Bruce Hanks, Bob Lane, Robert Barham and Gene Allen. Honorary pallbearers will be F. Earl Hogan, Herbert Manley, Gerald McLendon, W.P. “Bill” Smith, Gerald Donald, Dr. Ernie Rutherford, R.L. Hargrove, and Johnny Hebert. During her illness Mrs. Williams was greatly comforted and assisted by Ruby Nell Higgins, Virginia Renwick, Jeanette Battle, Alberta Lee and especially Veretta Heckard, who was Mrs.Williams loving and constant companion. Harter, Hand, Fincher, Weinholt, Hammett, Archie, and a special thanks to all the nurses on 3rd Floor Renal and the hospitalists at St. Frances Hospital.
