Mary Elizabeth Thomas Burt Mary Elizabeth Thomas Burt died after a lengthy illness at Ruston Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, formerly Longleaf Nursing Home in Ruston, Louisiana. She was born April 24, 1924 in Arcadia, Louisiana, to Percy Elgin Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Durrett Thomas. Her husband, Robert E. Burt, Jr. of Simsboro, preceded her in death. Mrs. Burt is survived by one brother, Percy Elgin Thomas, Jr., of Shreveport. Two sons, Robert E. Burt III of Ruston, William Thomas Burt of Simsboro and one daughter, Joan Marie Burt Edinger of Ruston. Grandchildren are Julia Burt Summersgill of Ruston, Jennifer Burch of Shreveport, Rebecca Burt Willis of Ruston, William Alexander Burt of Ruston, Anna Marie Edinger and Eva Burt Edinger of Ruston. Six great-grandchildren, Bankston and Caroline Summersgill of Ruston, Ean, Ava, and Gray Burch of Shreveport and Jack Willis of Ruston. Mrs. Burt was a graduate of Arcadia High School and Centenary College of Business in Shreveport. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Simsboro. Mrs. Burt was not only a loving mother and grandmother, but one who cherished family including her many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was a dedicated wife working closely with her husband for fifty years in their family business. Her sweet spirit and love truly has made Heaven a little brighter. Visitation for friends and family will be held Friday from 5-7 pm at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, with her funeral also at Kilpatrick Funeral Home on Saturday at 11 am, May 3, 2006. Pallbearers are Alex Burt, David Summersgill, Eric Burch, Scott Willis, Lue Charles Napper, Chad Alexander, Tommy Kincannon and Ted Kincannon. The family would like to extend a heart-felt appreciation to Matt Machen and his staff at Ruston Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Hospice of Caring Hearts.
