Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Belle Parker Shumate, 80, of Monroe, LA will be held at 10:00 Saturday, September 2, 2006 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Monroe, LA. with Rev. Bill Dye, Rev. Warren Eckhardt and David Worthington officiating. Interment to follow at Twin Cities Memorial Gardens in West Monroe, LA, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe, LA. Mrs. Shumate was born in Sikes, LA on March 14, 1926 and passed away in Monroe, LA on August 31, 2006. She was preceded in death by her parents: Ross and Lillie Belle Parker; her grandmother: Janie Barlow Holley; her great-grandson: Bailey Jones; two brothers: R. H. and Payton Parker and one sister: Marie Smith. Mrs. Shumate was a member of North Monroe Baptist Church and enjoyed painting, gardening, sewing, music, and creating crafts. She is survived by her husband: Robert W. ¨Dub Shumate of Monroe, LA; daughters: Linda Kizer and husband Craig of Niles, MI and Judy Lee of Dekalb, TX; sisters: Janice Massey of Alexandria, LA and Johnnie Dutton of Norman, OK; brother: J. C. Parker of Dodson, LA; 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and cousins. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Jeffery Lee, Michael Lee, Robert Robbie Jones; grandson-in-law: Troy Greenhaw, and friends: Roy Evans and Al Horath. Honorary pallbearers will be The Win Some Sunday School Class of North Monroe Baptist Church. Visitation will be 5: 00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 1, 2006, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home.
