James was born February 3, 1949 in West Monroe and passed away July 29, 2020. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Hattaway and his mother, Nellie Hattaway Gray; brother, Roy O. Hattaway and a sister, Gladys Wilson.
James is survived by his sister, Betty Saxon; 4 nieces, Marie Toles (JR), Debra Caylao, Cindy Thompson and Cathy Johnson; 2 nephews, Lester Hummel III and Michael Hummel (Annie); special church friends Bill and Sharon Schooley.
