Marilyn Ramsey Ludwig Wilhite passed away peacefully at home with her family on March 17, 2021 at the age of 98 after suffering a stroke. She was born on August 17, 1922 to John Fletcher Ramsey and Verdie Merle Tugwell Ramsey.

Miss Marilyn, as she was called by many, always had a smile on her face and a heart of gold. She was the “Town Historian”, and anyone who had questions about the town or residents asked Miss Marilyn. She graduated from Farmerville High School and Louisiana Tech University. She spent most of her working years at the Union Parish Trade School where she taught business classes; Norris and Booth Clinic as office manager; and Union Community Action Agency working with the underserved and senior community

Until her death, she was a member of the Farmerville First Baptist Church; the Farmerville Book Club; and the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands; Hopkins Hallman (father of her children); William “Bill” Ludwig (the love of her life); and William “Bill” Wilhite (her rock in later years).

Left to cherish her memory are her four children Hopkins Hallman II; Ora Merle Fife; Mary Jon Lieux (Jimmy); and John Ramsey Hallman (fiancé Pam); and three grandchildren: William Fife; John Hallman; and Matthew Hallman; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Union General Hospital and Ochsner-LSU Medical Center Stroke Center ICU, and the Compassus Hospice Staff.

Due to the covid pandemic, a graveside service will be held with masking and social distancing at the Farmerville Cemetery on Friday, March 19, 2021 at 2 p.m. Pastor Kurt Auger and Father Al Jost will officiate. The service is under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville.

Miss Marilyn loved her “fur babies”. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Union Parish Humane Society in her name.
