Warner Aswell and Rev. Charles Dupree officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Calhoun, LA.Mrs. Murray was born January 28, 1922 in Calhoun, LA, and passed away March 16, 2008, in Jonesboro, LA, following a lengthy illness. A homemaker for over 50 years, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Murray; her father, Willie Newton Smith and wife, Hazel, and her mother, Pearl Lowery Carney and husband, Frank; a sister, Laura Gilmore; 2 brothers, Milton Buddy Smith and Johnny Smith; 2 grandsons, Michael Allen and Henry Otis Lowery; stepmother, Hazel Smith; and stepfather, Frank Carney.Survivors include her 3 children, Emma Jones and husband, Johnny, of Vernon, LA, Joann Mangum and husband, Chris, of Calhoun, LA, and Allen Murray and wife, Julie, of Calhoun, LA; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; sister, Betty Wiltcher and husband, George, of Bernice, LA; brothers, Billy Smith and wife, Faye, and Robert Smith and wife, Brenda, all of Calhoun, LA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Margie?s legacy of loving and caring will be carried on by those she loved and adored the most, her family. She was a devoted and loving grandmother and bragged endlessly about her grandchildren.Pallbearers will be Chris Mangum, John Lowery, Chris Maxwell, Henry Murray, Willie Murray, Jr., and Richard Puckett.Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00PM at the Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
