Funeral Service for Marjorie Elaine Barron Bradley, age 95, of Ruston, LA., will be on August 9, 2021 at 10 A.M. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.  Dr. Chris Craig will officiate under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home.  Visitation will be  from 9:00 A.M. ~ 10:00 A.M. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery following the service.  Marjorie passed away peacefully on August 5, 2021. She was born on April 27, 1926, in Friendship Louisiana to William Edwin and Addie Cannon Butler Barron. She was married to James Hardy “Buddy” Bradley, who preceded her in death, for 62 years.

Marjorie grew up in Bienville Parish where she worked for her father at his cotton gin until she attended Louisiana Tech University. She graduated from La Tech in education and became a teacher and girl’s basketball coach at Friendship High School, her alma mater. Her basketball team went on to win a State Championship. From there she moved to Neville High School to coach. While living at Mrs. Bridges’ Boarding House in Monroe she met Buddy. They married in 1953 and enjoyed 62 wonderful years together. They had four children. They lived most of their married life before retirement in Shreveport, Louisiana. They were charter members of Cherokee Park Baptist Church, a church they helped establish.  She took time off from teaching to raise her children until 1970 when she returned to La Tech get recertified to teach kindergarten, which she loved and continued to do until retirement. She also taught the four-year-old age group in Sunday school at Broadmoor Baptist Church in Shreveport for over thirty years.

Once retired, they moved to Buddy’s hometown of Ruston, where they were active members of First Baptist Church. She loved children and touched so many young lives for Christ. She was always a gracious, up-beat, look-on-the-bright-side person. She loved her Lord and God’s creation and instilled  those things in her own children. She and Buddy loved to camp and took their family to visit most of our nation’s National Parks. Quilting was a passion in her retirement years, and she made a quilt for each of her family members. She loved to read, garden, sports,and cook for her family. Her fried chicken and homemade ice cream could rival anyone’s!

She is survived by her son, Alan Bradley, and wife Sharon of Ruston; daughter, Barbara Choate, of Bossier City; daughter, Edna Smith, and husband Dan of Ruston; son, Bill Bradley, and wife Samantha of Bloomburg, TX; grandson, Scott Smith, and wife Marla of Ruston; grandson, Bradley Choate, of Bossier City; granddaughter, Caitlin Bradley, of Dallas, TX; granddaughter, Elyse Mills, and husband Justin of Ruston; granddaughter, Britney Dungan, and husband Stephen of Bossier City;  grandsons, Cole and Will Bradley, of Bloomburg, TX; and great grandchildren, Emersyn Mills, Brooks and Kennedy Dungan, and Cannon and Landry Kate Smith.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Scott Smith and Bradley Choate, grandsons-in-law Justin Mills and Stephen Dungan, nephew Charles Barron, and grand-nephew Joseph Barron. Special Thanks to her at home sitters, nurses and staff at Princeton Place, and Compassus Hospice.
