Mr. Luzon Joiner, 88, of Monroe, Louisiana passed away peacefully on May 2, 2011 at his home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Parkview Baptist Church in Monroe with Rev. Gabriel Krell officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe. Mr. Joiner was born December 1, 1922 in Farmerville, LA to Pearl Dillard Joiner and Luzon Joiner, Sr. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U. S. Army Air Corps as a flight engineer. Following the war, he was employed for 37 years with Texas Gas Transmission Corp. Mr. Joiner was a member of Parkview Baptist Church for 43 years, serving as a deacon and in numerous leadership capacities. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rebel Albritton Joiner, and children, Larry Joiner and wife, Nonie of Canton, MS; Keith Joiner and wife, Penny of Monroe, and Rebecca Joiner of Monroe. Mr. Joiner is also survived by grandchildren, Ashley Smith and husband, Wade of Madison, MS; Grant Joiner and wife, Whitney of Memphis, TN; Amanda Saltzman and husband, Andy of Lake Charles, LA, and great grandchildren, Wade and Walker Smith of Madison, MS and Anna Leigh and Andy Saltzman, Jr. of Lake Charles, LA. Pallbearers are Richard Buck, Glenn Brunson, Lee Estes, Tom O'Neal, Sonny Smith and Darrell Washam. Honorary Pallbearers are the Deacons of Parkview Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. Memorials may be made to Parkview Baptist Church or Northminster Church Columbarium Garden Fund.
