Mrs. Phillips was born May 6, 1920 in Eros, Louisiana and went to her heavenly home on August 7, 2023. She traveled in the evangelistic field with “the Riches”; played guitar and sang. As a result of her singing with the Rich family, Agnes Rich’s father, Rev. E.W. Caughron (pastor of West Monroe United Pentecostal Church at that time) took our Momma along with her guitar to UPCI General Conference and had our “Little Country Girl Momma” walk out on stage to sing and play to the entire congregation at the annual conference. She was in her late teens at that time. Mrs. Phillips never really realized the honor she was given. Mrs. Phillips was doing what she did best, worshipping God with her voice, guitar, and heart. She was a member of the Pentecostals of the Twin Cities. She was preceded in death by her husband Daniel “Dee” Phillips; parents, Rev. F. M. Oglesbee and Elvira Powell Oglesbee; brothers, William “Son” Oglesbee, James Oglesbee, Aaron Phinehas Oglesbee; sisters, Eloise Hayden, Svea Freeland.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by two daughters, Gwenette Phillips Sims and husband Pete, DeWanna “Dee” Phillips; granddaughter, Le’Sann Sims; grandson, Anthony “Amp” Sims and wife April; six great-grandchildren, Ainslee Smith, Sawyer Smith, Rylee-Kate Smith, Abby Sims, Jace Sims, and Jacob Sims; three great-great grandchildren, Charlee Holman, Noa Holman, and Jack Holman; and many other cherished family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Sawyer Smith, Jace Sims, Jacob Sims, James Sims, Greg Freeland, Keith Oglesbee, Wayne Whitman, Nate Oglesbee, and Bruce Hemphill. Honorary pallbearers Jay Copeland, Daryl Rawls, Sonny Telano, Roy Myers, Buddy (Phillip Ray) Hightower, Joe Coley, Johnny Copeland, and Melan Robertson.
