She was born April 9, 1920 to Rev. J. Duff Smith and Sallie Turner Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband Garland J. Dawson, her sisters Emma Brantley, Mary Lou Hicks, Estelle Hollis, and Sarah Parsons, her brothers Milas Smith, John Allen Smith, J.D. Smith and James Peyton Smith. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bernice, La. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to work in her garden, mow the yard and fish. She is survived by her two children Virginia Marcantel David and Fred Dawson AnnHer grandchildren Carson Marcantel Carol, Lee Ann Vincent David, D’Ann Fimple Keith Deborah Kelley Jay and Dan Dawson.
