Lucille Gentry Timmons, age 97, passed away on Monday, December 13, 2021 at the Ignite Medical Resort in Kansas City, Missouri after a very blessed and lengthy life.
Lucille was born October 24, 1924 on a family farm passed down from generation to generation in Dry Prong, Louisiana; the oldest of Herbert and Hilda Gentry’s five children. She was united in marriage to Thomas E. Timmons, on July 1, 1944 in Alexandria, Louisiana; whom preceded her in death January 2, 2008. They were married 63 wonderful years.
Lucille received a degree from Louisiana Business College in Alexandria, Louisiana and worked as an office manager for several years before opening her own successful business, Monroe Ceramic Supply. Lucille was a very talented ceramicist and enjoyed painting and teaching classes in her spare time. She also volunteered at the West Ouachita Senior Center and was loved and admired by her students. Upon retiring in 2001, Lucille moved from Monroe to Kansas City, Missouri to be near her only daughter, Connie L. Hines; whom preceded her in death December 16, 2017.
Lucille was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, a talented artist, an excellent cook, and a friend to all. She is survived by her grandchildren; granddaughter Lori L. Hines-O’Rourke and husband Kenneth, and grandson W. Mark Hines and wife Wendi; her great grandchildren, Sean M. O’Rourke, Sarah L, O’Rourke, Nathan M. Hines, and Ashlyn G. Hines, all of Parkville, Missouri; her sister, Linda Gentry Faircloth of New Orleans, Louisiana; her nieces, Mitzi A. Cogdill and husband Marty, and Debra D. Faircloth, all of Dry Prong, Louisiana; and her nephews, Jack A. Faircloth of New Orleans, Louisiana, A. Eugene Gentry of Dry Prong, Louisiana, and Gary Gentry of Columbia, Louisiana.
Lucille was also preceded in death by her father, Herbert C. Gentry; her mother, Hilda J. Gentry; her sister, M. Earline Faircloth; her brothers, Alvern O. Gentry and H. Wayne Gentry, all of Dry Prong, Louisiana; and her son-in-law, Wendell R. Hines of Pineville, Louisiana.
A graveside memorial service will be officiated by Rev. Richard “Dick” Debusk at Liberty Chapel Cemetery in Williana, Louisiana on Monday, December 20, 2021 at 10 am. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend.
