Lt. Col. S.G. ¨Sam Stuckey, USAF Retired, passed away Monday, August 6 in Warner Robins, Georgia, where he resided. Sam served his country for 24 years as a pilot and nuclear engineer. His flight experience included everything from a Piper Cub to the RF-4C Phantom II. He served in Korea and Vietnam. After retirement from the Air Force he served in several positions in the nuclear industry and with the Louisiana Environmental Quality office. At the time of his death he was a member of a FEMA nuclear power plant safety assessment team. He was preceded in death by his parents, S. L. and Eunice Stuckey, and two infant daughters. He is survived by his wife, Dale, four children: Gilbert Scott Stuckey of Baton Rouge; Kathleen Kay Stuckey of Jackson, Mississippi; Susannah Lee Stuckey of London, England; Mark Lewis Stuckey of Macon, Georgia; two step daughters: Robin Jones of Denver, CO and Bonnie Linnemeyer of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and his adopted mother, Mrs. Dorothy Nolan of Ruston. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Davis, Alex and Ava, numerous cousins and step-granddaughter, Karen. Sam graduated from Ruston High School, Louisiana Tech in Mechanical Engineering and the Air Force Institute in Dayton, Ohio in Nuclear Engineering. Pallbearers are former Ruston High School classmates: Jimmy Bryant, Floyd Edwards, Jimmy Hoogland, Marvin McBride, Pat McLane and Joe Richardson. Visitation will be at Kilpatrick≠s in Ruston 6-8P Friday, August 10. Services will be Saturday at 10A in the Burkhalter Chapel in Trinity Methodist Church with Rev. Fred Wideman presiding. Internment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery Memorials may be made to the BEST Scholarship Fund in the College of Engineering and Science at Tech, the SPCA or the charity of the donor≠s choice.
