Services and interment for Lorene Norman Chambliss of West Monroe, LA will be held at 11a.m. on Friday, May 18, 2012 at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA. Lorene Norman Chambliss was born September 17, 1920, and was a proud “West Texan” throughout her life. Lorene passed away May 15, 2012 in West Monroe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Newton Chambliss, one of the early founders of the Law Firm of Jones, Blackwell, Chambliss, Hobbs and Henry. Lorene was a devoted caregiver to Frank during his final years. Lorene had also been a long-time caregiver to her mother, who lived to the age of 104. During her early years Lorene was a high school Spanish teacher, and later worked with government social services. Lorene Chambliss was known to be a fiercely independent woman who continued to educate herself throughout her lifetime by reading numerous newsletters and the Wall Street Journal. She had a special affinity for animals, particularly her cat “Blackie”. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Jon Tellifero, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, West Monroe, LA. Please make donations in lieu of flowers to your favorite charity, or to Hardin-Simmons University, P.O. Box 16100, Abilene, TX 79698.
