Lonnie Lee Bayles finished his earthly journey passing peacefully in sleep at his home at the age of 88, on Tuesday, November 21, 2018. Lonnie was born in Point, LA to Samuel U. Bayles and Annie Pamelia Dumas Bayles, the 6th of seven children.He was preceded in death by his mom and dad; infant sister, Fredna Gray; two brothers, Sam Harold and Fulton Bayles; beloved sisters, Estelle Pullin and Reita Aulds; and one son, Danny Dale Bayles. He was their caregiver through illness and finally death, each receiving his very personal, tender loving care.Lonnie graduated from Downsville High School in 1948 and remained a faithful alumni. Except for a few years in the city he spent his life in Point. He worked and provided for his family at his day job but always loved being home helping around the house. Lonnie loved to cook and always had the small garden and loved to share his bountiful harvest with his neighbors and church family. He loved all nature and fishing was so special and Lonnie would fish till the last cricket! He was given to hospitality which family, neighbors and church family always enjoyed. His favorite spot was Francis Creek. He would be found in the dead of night pulling strangers from its muddy banks.Lonnie was the neighbor neighbor. He cared for so many of his single neighbors in their illnesses and needs and even couples through the end of their lives.Lonnie is survived by his son, Johnathan Lee Bayles, Point, LA; sister, Arveal Smith, Shreveport, LA; Johnathan mother, Cathy Bayles, West Monroe, LA; and one daughter, Deborah.Lonnie has 9 grandchildren, Baylee, Lea and Scarlett Bayles; Carelena Brooks; Nichole; Gabriel, Santana, Steve, Amber and 1 great-grandchild. He is also survived by one very special Uncle Junior, C.C. Bayles, Jr. (Sue), nieces, nephews and friends.Lonnie worked after graduation at Thermatomic in Sterlington, LA. But the day job he had and loved that lasted 39 years was with The News Star World. Lonnie work ethic was second to none. Friendships formed there still remain today.Pallbearers will be Jeff Amidolia, Wendell Hodge, Ricky Nolan, and Steve Pylant.Services for Lonnie will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home with Bro. Louis Bartet officiating. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, November 26, 2018 at the funeral home.
