I've had 26 years of formal education, but I can count only three teachers during that time who made a real difference in my life. Mrs. Pearce was one of those special people. I learned the technical parts of grammar earlier from Mr. Laney, but I didn't understand the emotional and spiritual aspect of writing until I had "Aunt Ree" for three years at RHS. She made me think about what I was writing--I still hear her comments in my mind when I sit down at the keyboard. Several years ago I mailed Mrs. Pearce a little book on grammar quirks called "Eats Shoots and Leaves." She wrote back the nicest letter in that impossibly-beautiful handwriting of hers how did she do that?? that I keep in my office. I truly feel blessed and fortunate to have had Mrs. Pearce in my life.
