Lloyd Mason May, age 96, passed peacefully from this life to his eternal home in Heaven on Monday, November 8, 2021, at Azalea Estates of Monroe, where he and his dearest friend and beloved wife of 70 years, Alyne Brumfield May, had resided for the past two years. Lloyd was born March 15, 1925, in Tylertown, Mississippi, to Mason Edgar May and Jessie Ida Fortenberry May. Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents, and his three brothers, Wendell Levon May, Harold May, and Charles E. May. He is survived by his wife Alyne; sons Lloyd Kenneth May (Chris) of Broussard, Louisiana, and Randall Scott May of Baton Rouge, La.; daughter Judith May Edwards (Jimmy) of Monroe, La.; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Before moving to Monroe, Lloyd was a long time resident of Baker, Louisiana, where he worked in sales for Rabenhorst Life Insurance Company of Baton Rouge, and retired after more than fifty years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Baker, where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years, still teaching a Sunday School at the age of 92.
Lloyd, was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, where he served in the Pacific Campaign during World War II. First and foremost, he was a devoted Christian husband, father and dedicated family man. In his spare time, he was an avid gardener, and a student of the Holy Bible. His kind and gentle spirit was unparalleled, and visitors to his home were always greeted with his kindness and generous smile.
Graveside services will be held on Veterans Day, Thursday, November 11, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Tylertown, Ms. under the direction of Capps Funeral Home.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the team at Azalea Estates who provided daily companion services. Special thanks go out to the army of sitters/caregivers who provided loving care for Lloyd during the final two months of his long life, including his grandson Jordan, as well as Debra, Tina, Toni, Tori, Jonny, Julexis, Shanae, Shay, and Peggy. Finally, the family thanks Lloyd’s med nurse, Randy Mann, and the members and Staff at Elara Caring Home Health and Hospice.
The family asks that friends of Lloyd remember his name by contributing to the Church or Charity of their choice.
