Leta Marie Jones Stratton Funeral services for Leta Marie Jones Stratton, 84, of Ruston will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday, August 20, 2006, at First Baptist Church of Ruston. Officiating will be Dr. Chris Craig and Dr. Andy Johnson. Interment will be at Plain Dealing Cemetery in Plain Dealing, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Mrs. Stratton passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2006, in Shreveport. She was a very dedicated teacher who taught in the Bossier Parish School System for 33 years. After retirement, she and her husband returned to Ruston for the remainder of her life. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Ruston and was very active in her Sunday school. Family, church, bird watching and writing poetry were the loves of her life. She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John W. Stratton. She is survived by her three children, Eric Stratton and wife Glenda of Covington, LA, Lynda Stratton Allen and husband John of Ruston, and Susan Stratton Merritt and husband Mike of Minden; grandchildren, John D. Stratton and wife Brandy of Belcher, LA, Mary Ellen Miller and husband Lee of Madison, MS, Ashley Scott and husband Shawn of Gordon, GA, Laura McGrath and husband Mathie of Haughton, LA, Luke Allen and wife Leslie of Bossier City, John Merritt, Jr. of Miami, FL, Olivia Jane Merritt and fianc© Paul Massey of West Palm Beach, FL; sister, Janell Jones Goss of Dallas, TX; four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
