Leona was born in Union Parish on July 29, 1913, to Nora Lee Ray and Thomas Whitehead and passed away on September 1, 2006 in Missouri. She was betrothed at the age of 13 to W. Prisock. Her first child was a boy which she had at 14 followed by 4 daughters. Her oldest son was killed in an accident in 1943. Leona moved to Bremington, WA with her 4 daughters during WWII and worked in a shipyard. She returned to Monroe after the war and met Elias Gashette and they were married and had 4 boys. They moved to Houston TX in 1952 and raised their family and stayed until her husband≠s death in 2004 at the age of 100. She then went to live with son in Branson, Missouri in 2004. In 2005, she entered the Ozark Riverview Manor Nursing Home and lived there until her death. She will be truly missed by her family everyone her life has touched. Mrs. Gashette was preceded in death by her husband Elias Gashette 2004, Daughters Shirley Prisock Leland 2004, Joyce Prisock Johnson 1990, Betty Prisock Aymond 1969, and a son Tommy Prisock 1943. Mrs. Gashette is survived by her daughter Evelyn Basco, Ball, LA; stepdaughter Marie Hooter, Bosco, LA; sons: Donnie Gashette, Houston, TX; Tommy Brown, Destin, FL; Ronnie Gashette, Houston, TX; Kenneth Gashette, Branson, MO; 31 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren.
