Mr. Leon Neal Odom A visitation to celebrate the life of Leon Neal Odom, 65, of West Monroe, will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2007 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe. Mr. Odom entered this life on June 11, 1941 and departed for a better life on May 21, 2007. His wishes were to donate his body to LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport and this may help in finding a cure for Alzheimer≠s Disease and Parkinson≠s Disease. Leon was known to many as ¨Curly and known as ¨Q-Paw to his beloved grandchildren. He was a member of First Baptist Church of West Monroe. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Curly spent many weekends at the hunting and the fishing camps. He was quick with a joke or playing a trick on someone. He always had a story to tell. He also loved to play softball, playing until just a few years ago when he wasn≠t able to anymore. Other than the time he spent with his grandchildren and the outdoors, Curly also loved Alabama and Bear Bryant. His hounds tooth hats will be treasured. Curly grew up in State Line, MS. And Citronelle, AL. This is where he met his wife, Margaret. After marriage, they made their home for several years in Vicksburg, MS. where Curly sold building materials and had a construction company. Curly and Margaret eventually returned to West Monroe. Curly worked selling building materials until his retirement last year. Curly is preceded in death by his parents, Thelma Beakley and Raymond Odom, his mother-in-law, Ezelle Bottoms, and his grandson, Christopher Dillingham. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Margaret B. Odom, of West Monroe, his children, Joey Odom and wife Lydia, of Lake Charles, Sonja Dillingham, of West Monroe, and Felicia Hamby and husband Al, of Eros, his grandchildren, Daniel and Blake Odom, Austin and Autumn Dillingham, Samantha and Dalton Hamby; one brother, Kenneth Odom of Waynesboro, MS. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity, The Alzheimer≠s Association or The National Parkinson≠s Foundation.
