LAYNE HAMMONS Funeral services for Layne Hammons, 57, of Downsville, LA are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston. Officiating the service will be Rev. Charles Davis and interment will follow in the Downsville Cemetery in Downsville, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Mr. Hammons was a member of Downsville Baptist Church. He was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War and a proud American. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Layne was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather better known as ¨Pops. He was a wonderful brother and uncle who will always be remembered as ¨Unc. Layne was a most compassionate caring friend and neighbor to all who knew and loved him. He was employed by Humble Equipment Co. in Ruston and was proud of the contribution he made and loved his co-workers dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert E. ¨Jack and Lucille Hammons. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sandra L. Hammons of Downsville; daughter, Paula H. Thomas and husband Jason of Farmerville; sons, Travis L. Hammons and wife Erin and Justin H. Hammons and fianc© Summer Martin all of Downsville; grandchildren, Alex and Brianna Thomas; brothers, Max E. Hammons and wife Jeanne of Ruston and Wayne Hammons and wife Francis of Downsville; sister, Patsy Hammons and husband Ronnie of Choudrant, LA; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Pallbearers will be Eugene Guy, Ray Ashby, Randy Hammons, Duane Dugdale, Bob Tom Riser, Roy Echols, Malcolm Echols, and E. C. McCann. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Ripcord Association Layne≠s Band of Brothers. Visitation will be held 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Monday, August 28, 2006 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.
