Funeral services for Lawrence Guidry, Jr., 79, of Monroe will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel of Monroe with Father Edmund Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe with John Thompson officiating at the committal service. Mr. Guidry was born in New Orleans, LA on January 30, 1931 and passed away in Monroe, LA on December 13, 2010. He served in the U. S. Marine Corp during the Korean War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a loving husband and father of 7 wonderful children. He was a devout Catholic attending St. Paschal's and Jesus the Good Shepherd Church. He was a retired Building and Painting Contractor. Mr. Guidry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty; Sons: Alden Guidry and Sherry Strange, Teddy Guidry, Rory Guidry and wife, Dianna, and Richard Guidry and wife, Tonya; daughters: Darlene Thompson and husband, John, Nicole Guidry, and Tennille Guidry; numerous brothers and sisters; 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be: Steve Traxler, J. O. Bailey, Jackie Gilbert, Kenneth Heath, Larry Cash, Edgar Landry, and Troy Hendrix. Special thanks to the staff of Glenwood Medical Center and the Northeast Louisiana War Veterans Home. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe.
