Funeral services for Lawrence Larry C. Barbour, 86, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, June 26, 2006 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Mark Fenn officiating. Interment will be at Twin Cities Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA. Mr. Barbour went to be with the Lord June 22, 2006 at home after a lengthy illness. Mr. Barbour was a member of First Baptist Church West Monroe. Larry≠s main focus in life was to serve the Lord. Before moving to West Monroe he lived in Charleston, West Virginia where he was a deacon for 12 years in Baptist Temple. He was an active member of the Gideon≠s International for 34 years. Mr. Barbour was a graduate of Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia with a Master≠s Degree in PreLaw. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served as a First Lieutenant in two wars: World War II where he was in campaigns under General Eisenhower including the Normandy Invasion; and the Koren Conflict. He was a telephone engineer for C&P Telephone Company for 42 years. Larry was preceded in death by his parents Daniel Barbour and Marble Walker; sisters Ruth Newberg and Edna Walker. He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Frenchie Golsby Barbour; son Kenneth Lee Barbour of Aiken, South Carolina; daughter Jill Barbour of Macon, Georgia; brother Dr. Alfred Walker and wife Janet of Baltimore, Maryland; brother-in-law Richard Newberg of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be members of the Ouachita West Camp of the Gideons International; Richard Ballard, W.L. ¨Bud Jenkins, Alex Kiethley, Harold LaGrone, Byron Kitchens, Ellis Auttonberry. Memorials may be made to Gideons, International. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 25, 2006 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.
