Laura Claire Richardson Laura Claire Richardson, animal lover, gourmet cook and one of the funniest people anyone ever met, was born in Ruston, Louisiana, on August 6, 1968. She died July 3, 2010, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is survived by parents Lynne and Bruce Richardson of Baton Rouge; sister and brother-in-law Alicia and John McCampbell, and niece, Mary Catherine McCampbell of Sherman, Texas; uncle, Tom Richardson of Ankeny, Iowa; aunt, Mary Elizabeth Richardson of Baton Rouge; uncle, Ralph Richardson and wife Ann of Shreveport; cousins, John Richardson and wife Jill of Baton Rouge; Edward Richardson and wife Lisa of Atlanta; Dr. Rachel Richardson of Little Rock, Arkansas; Samuel Richardson, David Richardson and wife, Ashleigh, of Shreveport; Dr. Stephen Richardson and wife Candice of Ft. Worth, Texas, and a host of great aunts, great uncles, and cousins. Laura Claire was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Sybil and Lytt M. Escoe, and paternal grandparents, Louise and J.T. Richardson. Laura Claire attended A.E. Phillips and Ruston High School and graduated from Lee High in Baton Rouge. She studied sound engineering and music production at Full Sail Academy for the Performing Arts in Orlando, Florida, and psychology at University of New Orleans. Many charitable organizations benefited from Laura Claire’s generous, loving spirit. She gave her time and talents in New Orleans to Lazarus House, Bridge House, the SPCA, the Southern Animal Foundation and other animal welfare agencies. In the aftermath of hurricane Katrina, Laura Claire volunteered at a Red Cross-sponsored Tent City serving displaced and homeless hurricane survivors in St. Bernard Parish. A free spirit who reveled in the history and culture of her adopted city, Laura Claire had friends in New Orleans of every age and from every walk of life who will cherish their special memories of her kindness, quick wit and unique personality. She was a member of Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church. Services for Laura Claire will be Saturday, July 10, 2010, at 2:00 P.M. at Kilpatrick’s Funeral Home, 209 N. Bonner St., Ruston, LA, 71270 with Rev. Dale Oden officiating. Visitation will precede the service at 12:30 P.M.  Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Ruston. Claire & I drove to my hometown Dayton, Ohio together in the 90’s. She met my parents. We went to Kings Island, hiked in Yellow Springs and drank the spring water in Glen Helen (supposedly a fountain of youth). And she was that: forever youthful.
