Laster Leachman died peacefully at home on July 31, 2020, at age 85. Graveside services will be held at Douglas Cemetery in Choudrant, LA., on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.  Rev. Jeremy Jones will officiate, under the directions of Kilpatrick Funeral Home-Ruston.

Laster was a well known, respected, and successful cattleman most of his life. His family and cattle were the loves of his life.  Laster was known as being hard-working, but always had time for his family and friends and enjoyed teaching the next generation the value of hard work.

Laster was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Birdell Leachman; sisters Julia Faye Leachman, Nellie Murphey and Barbara Owen; and son Robert Leachman. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Wanda Leachman; son Gary Leachman of Choudrant, LA, daughter Ann Ernest and husband Ron Ernest of Fort Worth TX; daughter-in-law Ginny Leachman of Choudrant LA; grandchildren Nathan Leachman and wife Jessica Leachman of Oklahoma City OK, Meg Brown and husband Stephen Brown of Choudrant, LA, Kathryn Leachman of New Orleans, LA; great-grandchildren Trinity Leachman, Evelynn Leachman, Lizzie Brown,  Mary Charlotte Brown, sisters; Dola Witters and husband Larry Sydney, NE, and a host of extended family.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2020 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, LA.

In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions can be made to the Douglas Church Building Fund or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
