Landon Michael Slavant Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe, LA Funeral services for Landon Michael Slavant, 20 of West Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00PM, Thursday, March 15, 2007 at First Baptist Church West Monroe, LA with Rev. Mark Fen officiating. Interment to follow at Hasley Cemetery, West Monroe, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe, LA. Landon was born June 7, 1986 in West Monroe, LA and passed away March 11, 2007 in Monroe, LA. Landon graduated from West Monroe High School in 2004 and had attended Louisiana Tech University. In high school, Landon was a member of the West Monroe Football and soccer teams where he received numerous awards including most valuable player and all-district. Landon was pursing a career with the United States Army before his death and will be remembered for infectious smile, engaging personality and unconditional love for his family and friends. Landon was also a member of First Baptist Church of West Monroe. Landon is survived by his parents; Michael and Tammy Slavant; sister Lauren and husband Rowe M. Belcher; grandparents, John L. and Betty Stimac; Jim and Cheryl Slavant; John Gray; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins including; Lisa & Richard Crawford, Janet & Gary Hollis, Troy & Allie Slavant, Kelli & Donald Sorrells, Todd & Angela Slavant, Karen & Lennie Stewart, Lisa Gray; cousins; Lee, Tyler, & Cara Crawford, Claire, Cody & Connor Hollis, Christopher Slavant, Josh & Noah Sorrells, Rachel, Zach, & Caleb Thibodeaux, Drake & Mallory May. Pallbearers will be Daniel Barfield, Lee Crawford, Tyler Crawford, Matt ¨Ernie Gardner, Cody Hollis, Riley Mabry, Drake May and Lance Smithson. Visitation will be Wednesday March 14, 2007 from 5PM until 9 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

Dear Mike, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. We went to Riser together and you probably don't remember me. A friend of Cindy Coates Dennis Daniel's grandmother had just passed and I heard the news of your son. May God grant you the peace and comfort you need at this time.

You guys may or may not remember me, but I actually grew up with Landon and Casey and we always used to hang out when we were kids and I was absolutely devastated when I heard that he had passed and I would just like to extend my remorse to his friends, loved ones, and family..my heart and prayers are with you all.

Dear Miss Tammy and Lauren, I am sorry I was unable to make it for the funeral and repay the kindness that you showed me when I was too young to accept it graciously. I always looked up to Landon because, while he was younger, he was always exciting and fun to be around the way I wished I had been. When I look back on those years when our familes were so close, I can only remember happy times with you and your family and getting into trouble with Landon that was always so trivial and harmless and good-spirited: the kind of trouble people talk about when they say that "boys will be boys." You will stay in my prayers and I hope that God gives you the comfort you deserve.

To the Slavant, Stimac, Crawford and Hollis Families, I am so sad to hear of this news. Landon was such a special person. I am grateful that our paths crossed and for the opportunity to have known him. Although no words can mend your broken heart for the loss of your son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin...I pray that somehow/someday you will be able to remember only good times with a healed heart. My prayers are with you and if you need me...please call on me for anything.

I did not know Landon personally but I do remember him playing for the football team at WMHS. He was a wonderful player and from what I understand, a wonderful person. He will always be remembered by everyone. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss.

To the Slavant Family: We were shocked and saddened to hear about Landon. When Casey was 10 years old, she kept mentioning a boy named Landon. I asked her what was so special about him that she couldn't stop talking about him? When I finally met him and he flashed that megawatt smile of his, I never questioned her judgment again! They had a very sweet relationship. He was so sweet and happy. We simply adored him. It's so sad to know that he will never return to visit us again. Hopefully, one day we'll see him again. Hi Mike,Tammy,&Lauren: I can't even imagine the unbearable pain you must be feeling right now. Our hearts, love and prayers are with you all and have been ever since we've moved apart. I loved Landon as if he were one of my own, and I think you know that. He touched a special place in my heart and I think it was that amazing smile and twinkle in his eye which meant he was always up to something! We have never quit talking about you all even though we've gone in different directions in this world. Through this website, I found someone who knew Landon that lives here in Columbia - so I'm going to try to contact them.He loved Nicholas and was so good with him, even if it DID get them both in abit of trouble at times! Nicholas is now his age when we met you and he is the same way Landon is with younger boys as Landon was with him; fun loving, mischievious,sensitive,caring, a good athlete, and smart as a whip when it came down to it.For whatever reason, God has a bigger plan for him for now, but I look forward to the day when I see that beautiful smiling face again that touched our lives. Mr.&Mrs.Slavant & Lauren: I wanted to let you know how sad I am to hear about Landon. He was my best friend when I was about 6 and he was 12 as I am 13 now. He'd come play with me, play video games, and sometimes babysit me. I remember him getting me to rollerblade down Mrs. Impink's driveway into the street, and when Mom saw us, I thought she'd kill us both! She told Landon if I broke any bones, he would have to come over every day and play with me! Landon would just smile or laugh! He was alot of fun and I looked up to him as a brother I never had. I missed him after you moved away when we moved on the lake and I still think of him often and grin when I do. We'd go take Molly out in the woods and ride that swing in your backyard. I'm sure he is smiling as he sees me remembering those things. I'm so sorry and it has upset me he is no longer with us here to make others smile and laugh. My class said a special prayer today for you all and for Landon and I will never forget him.

This morning Michael and I talked about the fun and trouble the two of them used to get into. I√É¬≠m in my office looking at a picture of two little boys in navy sports coats standing by Mrs. Coleman√É¬≠s Miata and they almost look angelic. Their initials are on the Saddle Run culvert and probably any place there was wet cement. And we√É¬≠ve even looked at the scar where Michael√É¬≠s finger got caught in Landon√É¬≠s crutch . . . the swing . . . the fort . . . He touched our lives and we√É¬≠ll see him again. When I think of Landon, I have to smile. Anna Kate called me crying from New York to tell me of his death. We are just in shock here. Karen Dale called last night from Missouri, just to be sure we had heard. We lived across the street from Landon for five years, and we will always remember his impish grin. Tammy, Mike and Lauren, you are held close in my heart today. I love each of you. The world is a sadder place with Landon not in it.
