L.V. started out working delivering ice before school at Ouachita Parish High School, later he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and then the U.S. Coast Guard, retired and moved back home to West Monroe, where he worked for the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Department as Warden at the Ouachita Parish Correctional Center, where he was instrumental in implementing the work release program. After retiring from OPSO, he worked with long time friends, Joe and Sylvia Cummings, doing insurance investigations.L.V. always had a project going or a story to tell. He was especially proud of the fact that he was an accomplished cryptographer (a person who specializes in secret codes used in the military during war time), and ham radio operator. He also spent many years researching and documenting the history of his family and his wife's family . He was vigilant in talking to many of the old timers left, and writing the stories they told, trying to connect the history of his family. He printed several books on different branches of the family that have been very beneficial to other family members doing research on their history. After his wife passed away, he decided to do some traveling, hopping military flights to Europe and soaking up the history and beauty of Germany, Holland, France, Belgium and Switzerland. The first trip he made alone, and made 2 subsequent trips with an old military buddy, Fred Fletcher, and they had a grand time. (and came back with some very interesting stories). L.V. documented some of his travels in printed books, and was extremely proud of his ability to tell these stories for others to enjoy. L.V. was a Mason for over 50 years, and he and Millie were very dedicated members of their local chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, Dixie Chapter No. 179. They both held many positions with the OES on the state and local level.L.V.is preceded in death by his wife of over 51 years, Mildred Warren Frith, his parents, Ernie and Rosa Frith, brother, Harold Frith.L.V. is survived by his son, Larry Frith; daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Sam Burns; sister and brother -in-law, Debbie and Jack Clampit; sisters and brothers in law, Roberta Thompson, Dorothy and Donald Porter, Janie Smylie, Wayne and Jean Warren, Bonnie White, Joe and Sandra Warren; and a host of other family and friends. We would like to thank all of those who provided care to our dad in this last phase of his life, and everyone who called, sent cards, and visited with him.
