Funeral services for L. Glynn Tubbs, 69, will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at Northminster Church, Monroe with Welton Gaddy officiating. Burial will be at Farmerville City Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Monroe. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, 1200 Lamy Lane, Monroe. Born in Bernice, Louisiana, on February 18, 1941, Glynn died Sunday, October 24, 2010 in Monroe. Glynn was a 1959 graduate of Bernice High School, received his Bachelor of Arts in Education from Northeast Louisiana State College now ULM, and his Master of Education from Louisiana Tech University. Glynn began his professional career as a teacher at Fair Park High School in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1966. Eight years later, he came to Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe as the MenØÇø_s Housing Director, and eventually became the Director of University Housing. He was later named the Director of University Farms, a position he held until his retirement. After retiring from the University, Glynn worked for the Monroe Housing Authority until the summer of 2010. Glynn was a active member of Northminster Church, where he served on several committees. He was a member of the Gamma Nu Chapter of the Kappa Alpha Order on the ULM campus and served as the chapterØÇø_s faculty advisor for twenty years. The recipient of many awards during his career, two with special meaning to Glynn were the Outstanding Service Award of 1998 given by the NLU Alumni Association and the Knight CommanderØÇø_s Accolade in 2006, the highest national award given to alumni of Kappa Alpha Order. Glynn was preceded in death by his parents, Beatrice Pat and Hammonds Tubbs, a brother, Ronald Tubbs, and a special aunt and uncle, Lucille and Jurd Stewart. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carol Ann Hartman Tubbs, daughter, Mandi Medaries, son Christopher Tubbs; two grandchildren, Amanda and Jeron Medaries and brother, Wayne Tubbs. Pallbearers will be William Bourn, Adrian Bruley, Burl Hollis, Bill McDonough, Jay Peters, Bo Smith, John Wheeler, and Frank Wilcox. Honorary pallbearers will be the members and alumni of the Gamma Nu Chapter of the Kappa Alpha Order.

I am sorry to read of your loss. Death is such an enemy for us now but the Bible promises that it will not always be this way. There is a better hope for the future! And that is on this earth, not just in heaven. Note Rev 21:4 "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore." Have you thought about what that means and where it will be the case? In the meantime, the Bible also provides comfort for us now for it says: √É¬¢√É¬Ñ√É¬∫"To Jehovah the Sovereign Lord belong the ways out of death." Psalms 68:20

Mr. Tubbs was a very special person to me during my college years at NLU and as a student worker at the NLU/Johnson Farm. He will be missed by many. My prayers are with him and his family.

It was a pleasure working with Glynn in the housing office at ULM then NLU in the 1970's. He had a great rapport with the college students and was always such a gentleman. My thoughts and prayers are with Carol Ann and his children. Susan

He was such a good friend to his young friends in Bernice then as he grew older and moved through life he was such a inspiration to all he came in contact with! Tubbs Family, Mr. Tubbs took care of me and my family back in 1984 when we lost Steve Spainhouer in a car accident on his way back to NLU. Sorry to hear of his death. His American History class of my junior year at Fair Park 68-69 was my favorite class. He made history come alive.

I am saddened today with the news of the passing of one the very few people who had shaped, inspired and influenced my life. I share these words about this gentle man from my heart to his family as my only means to memorialize the fact that people they may not have ever heard about have been deeply touched by the man they have always known and loved as 'my dad', 'my husband' or 'my uncle'. All I need to say is Journalism and Northeast are entries of my life's professional resume, and one who knows Glenn--also readily knows the source for one of my greatest influences. The mortal world has lost a great gentleman, but for those who knew him best, we know that God has merely reclaimed his spirit to carry on in the hearts of those who were ever so fortunate to be in his presence.

He was a friend to everyone. We will miss him.

I am so sorry that Glynn has passed away. I worked with him at the college for a number of years and he was one of the most pleasant people to be around. Glynn always had a smile and a kind word to say. It is sad to know that I will not get to see him around town and pick up where we left off from our former conversations of the "olden days" at NLU. I am confident that Jesus has prepared a comfortable place for Glynn to rest, punch cows and watch over KA. 'Wheat, barly, alfalfa give 'em heck Kappa Alpha' And Glynn Tubbs!!!

Mr. Tubbs will be missed. He was a fine man, good friend, mentor to many including myself, and one of the most outstanding Greek men I have had the honor of knowing. My prayers are with his family and with all of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Glynn was a very special person who did not know a stranger and he was my husband's mentor and best friend. He blessed us not only with his friendship, care and concern but was our bestman at wedding. His family meant the world to him and have many great memories of being at their house. Glynn is a man whom will be so sorely missed, but with each tear that is shed now - there will be more smiles and laughter in the future as his memory, his laugh, his smile, his grilling and giving nature will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him. Mr Tubbs was a great inspiration and mentor during my time at NLU. He did know how to say no to the men of Gamma Nu. He always had time to lend a helping hand or words of wisdom. As already stated, a man that touched so many lives! I was one of the fortunate ones that had the priviledge of knowing him. His care and support helped get me through college. He and his perpetual smile will certainly be missed but never forgotten. Growing up as I did with Glynn in Bernice, LA was a blessing! He was the person to whom I often turned for guidance. Glynn was my mentor in almost every aspect of my young life: in school, sports, community service, work, play, and in just simply "growing up" to become a mature young person. I will never forget being a KA pledge and meeting Mr. Tubbs for the very first time. I just remember being struck by what an impressive guy Mr. Tubbs was. Little did I know at that time how important Mr. Tubbs would become to me as he was to all of the brothers of the Gamma Nu Chapter of Kappa Alpha Order. For many of us, Mr. Tubbs was like a father figure while you were at college. You could go to Mr. Tubbs with any question or problem and he would do his best to help you out. If anyone in the chapter ever needing anything at all, Mr. Tubbs would bend over backwards to help in anyway possible. Like "Sir, You are a KA" says, You can never grow taller than when you stoop to help a Brother. Mr. Tubbs was truly the epitome of the True Southern Gentleman just like our spiritual founder Robert E. Lee. Mr. Tubbs was a great man and will be truly missed.
