Gary Rainey, 63, passed away December 21, 2018 after a short fight with cancer, in Ruston surrounded by his family. He was a son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and father-figure to so many. He spent most of his 63 years visiting with friends, surveying in the woods, and making people laugh. Gary was preceded in death by his mother and father, JoAnne and L. A. Rainey, and nephew Andy Robinson. He is survived by his daughters Anna and Natalie, sister Debbie Robinson, nephew Jeff Robinson, and grandchildren Graziella and Seppe Jr.Gary loved the outdoors, his family, and work. Being a professional land surveyor for over 30 years, he knew Lincoln Parish like the back of his hand. He was sought after because of his precision and loved for his chuckle. He will be remembered by his friends for his loyalty and authenticity. He will be remembered as Daddy and P-Pop by his girls and grandchildren. We will all miss his stories, humor, and warmth. A memorial service will be held December 27 at 11 AM at Salem Methodist Church, located at 11793 Highway 151 in Dubach, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Visitation will follow.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be sent to Caf© Hope, P.O. Box 2021, Marrero, LA 70073.Gary oldest daughter works for Caf© Hope, which is a non-profit culinary skills and job placement program that helps opportunity youth in the New Orleans area. I have a high intuition. Just now googled Gary's obituary because I felt he passed away. Sadly, it's true. I'm an old friend from Texas and have spent countless hours talking with Gary on the phone. Visits here and there. He was a good Soul. A humorous and spirited man. He loved his daughters VERY much and always spoke so lovingly of them both, and his grandkids. He was a great friend and I will miss him dearly. I'll see you in heaven Gary, when it's my time. We can joke and laugh just like always.
