Katherine M. Hebert passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on June 7, 2025. Born on July 25, 1930, in West Monroe, she was blessed with almost 95 years to live, love, and serve. She did all these well in her many roles as daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and lifelong member of the church of Christ.
Church, home, friends, and family were Katherine’s life. Fragrant aromas daily filled her kitchen, for she loved nothing more than having family and friends around her table, sharing good home style cooking and great conversation. She delighted in sending her love to others in the form of an angel food or applesauce cake, a “green rice” casserole made her own way without the green ingredients, or a card with a handwritten note tucked inside. She also found joy in seeing her garden grow with a variety of beautiful flowers and blooming shrubs, tomatoes, peppers, and other vegetables. Her home was always a welcoming place, within and without. Today she leaves the recipes and gardens behind for others to enjoy. More important, though, she leaves behind a legacy of Christian values planted in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Katherine is preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Johnnie Browder; her brother and sister-in-law, Dewayne and Kathy Browder; her son-in-law, Ira Butler; and by the love of her life, her husband of 64 years, Johnny Hebert.
She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Butler (Muscle Shoals, AL); her son, Terry Hebert and wife, Jo (West Monroe); grandchildren, Chris Butler and wife, Nope (Atlanta, GA), and Chad Hebert (West Monroe); great-grandchildren, Holli Hebert and Landri Hebert (West Monroe); a dear sister-in-law, June Hebert (West Monroe); many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank some very special friends who helped to care for her in her final years: Debra Caples, Janice Caples, Kayleigh Rucker, BJ Haulcy; the doctors, nurses, and caregivers at Landmark Nursing Home, St. Francis Medical Center, and the Specialty Hospital; and two extraordinarily caring physicians, Dr. Owen Meyers, who helped her through many difficult times, and Dr. Amin El-Malah who kept her comfortable in her final days.
A service will be held to honor her life at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be Paul Stephens and Mike Kellett (WFR Church). Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun, under the care and direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes, West Monroe. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM until the time of service. Pallbearers will be Chad Hebert, Chris Butler, Ken Dorsey, and Jack Cornett. Honorary pallbearers will be Beryl DeLancy and Eddie Spillers.
Memorials may be made to the charities closest to Katherine’s heart, St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Samaritan’s Purse, or to WFR Church for furtherance of the gospel.
