August 3, 1959 - January 31, 2022

Karen Hamilton McCourt, 62, of Monroe, LA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, January 31st, 2022 at 3pm. She was born in Oakland, CA on August 3rd, 1959, and graduated from NLU with a degree in Aviation. Karen had an illustrious life and career that included working as a pilot, real estate broker, graphic designer, and CPA. She enjoyed challenging herself and exploring new career paths throughout her life.

Karen married Michael McCourt in Monroe, LA in St. Matthews Catholic Church on March 13th, 1980. She is preceded in death by her husband, Michael McCourt; and her parents, Robert and Kathryn Hamilton. She is survived by their three sons – Garrett and wife Valerie, Jason and wife Kira, and Evan; as well as their three grandchildren – Mason (7), Maverick (5), and Aislynn (3 months); and her sister, Cathy Boyd.

Private services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations in Karen’s name to be made to SOS Pets of Ouachita P.O. Box 2991 West Monroe, LA 71294 or Facebook.com/SOSPetsofOuachita.

I considered myself lucky to be Karen’s friend. I sort of thought of her as as “Renaissance woman,” gifted in so many diverse ways.
