Internment will follow at Sibley Cemetery under the direction Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, LA. Judy passed away peacefully, at 10:48 Thursday night November 19, 2021, surrounded by loved ones in her home, after a lengthy illness with cancer.
Judy was born March 22, 1955, in Mer Rouge, La. After graduating High School in Rayville, she came to Ruston to attend Louisiana Tech. After graduating from Tech, she began her career as a Speech Pathologist in Lincoln Parish Schools. After teaching 30 years, she retired to devote all her time to the work of the Lord, the church, fishing, hunting, working in the yard, and canning vegetables from the garden.
Judy was a person of excellence, integrity, perseverance, and love. For her, one way existed to do something, and it was doing it the right way. Time and resources on earth, she believed belonged to the Lord and she treated them accordingly, with an eye toward eternity. She could often be found at Longstraw Baptist Church, having arrived early, immaculately dressed, and ever alert to what needed to be done and who needed to be remembered. If a church gathering required a covered dish, Judy would bring three, along with a couple of her famous sheet cakes and batches of her best homemade cookies. She spent many an early morning with her husband Larry in the hospital waiting room to comfort a surgery patient while also making sure the floors at home were spotless and clean, as well as the garden vegetables gathered and canned, and a “southern” lunch cooked and complete on the table. May we remember Judy and find whatever the circumstances, the miracles in each new day, and give it our “all.”
2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
