Joy Ann Colvin Faulkner, 89, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2023 surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on September 21, 1934 to John and Lela Bert Colvin in Ruston, Louisiana where she grew up and lived her entire life. She attended Ruston High School and Louisiana Tech University before marrying Leonard Lee Faulkner on February 1, 1957.
Joy was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church and active in social activities throughout her life. She was an accomplished cook and baker known for her strawberry and chocolate cakes. She worked as a bridal consultant at Lewis & Company, back in the day, and helped many brides-to-be find that perfect wedding dress. She was an avid reader and collector of antiques and china.
Joy is survived by her daughter, Lee Ann Faulkner Underdown and husband, Chuck; her son, Andrew Todd Faulkner and wife, Christi. Her brother, John M. Colvin and wife, Kathy. Grandchildren, Hali Leeth Boyd, Drew Faulkner, Matthew Faulkner, Zachary Faulkner as well as four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joy was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Leonard Lee Faulkner. Her sister, Francis Colvin Roach and brother-in-law, Robert “Junior” Roach.
Visitation will be held at Kilpatrick Funeral Home on Saturday, December 9, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a graveside service at Choudrant Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Ruston
The family would like to express their sincere love and appreciation for the staff of The Arbor & The Terrace of Ruston for their dedication and care for Joy during these last years.
