Joseph Lawrence Taylor

June 21, 1931 – March 6, 2021

Joseph “Joe” Taylor passed from this life under the care of Compassus Hospice and Alpine Rehab at 89 years. Joe was the son of Frank and Cecelia Taylor of Joliet, IL and loving husband to Anne M. Taylor, who were married on June 27, 1953. Joe and Anne lived in Chicago and Evanston before moving to Skokie, IL, where they renovated a home and settled down and raised their family.

Joe was a man of many talents, had a great sense of humor, sharp wit and a determined spirit that helped him accomplish his goals and overcome obstacles. Joe completed his college degree while working a full time job and raising a family. Among his professions, Joe was a veteran of the United States Air Force and an electrical engineer. He had a passion for trains and was an honorary lifetime member of the Train Collectors Association of America. He was a devoted Catholic and active in his neighborhood church, St Lambert’s in Skokie, IL, and he loved to help most anyone he could in his outgoing and friendly manner.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his brother James R Taylor.Joe is survived by his three children, Cindi A Jaynes of Ruston, LA, James L Taylor of Chicago, IL and Kathleen A Taylor, along with grandchildren Natalie A Clay and Matthew D Jaynes and three great grandchildren.

Memorial masses were held at St Lambert’s on March 14, 2021 and a family memorial service will be held at a later date.
