It is with great sadness the family of Jonathan Mark Stewart II of Ruston, Louisiana, announce his unexpected passing on February 26, 2021.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at Grace United Methodist Church in Ruston, Louisiana, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a funeral service immediately following at 1 p.m. Pastor Bob Deich will officiate, and those attending the service will be asked to wear masks. The service will also be live-streamed on the Grace United Methodist Facebook page. Pallbearers will be Joshua W. Stewart, Stephen Shea Sullivan, Tim Smith, Chad Caldwell, Dr. Matt Hartmann,and Dr. Heath Barnett. Honorary pallbearers are Richard Scott, Genaro Ky Ly Smith, and Ben Quinnelly. Following the service, Jon will be laid to rest at Wimberly Cemetery in Ringgold, Louisiana.

Jon was born in Minden, Louisiana, to Jonathan Mark Stewart Sr. and Carol Wimberly Stewart on July 21, 1980. He attended Cedar Creek School, Louisiana Tech University, and Louisiana State University. He worked as a land surveyor and draftsman for Jerry L. Rugg & Associates for 12 years before joining forces with his brother Joshua Stewart in late 2017 to launch Cornerstone Surveying. He married April Clark Honaker on September 7, 2019 in Ruston, Louisiana.

Jon was an avid gamer, a wellspring of Dad jokes, a curator of shameless puns, and a lover of all things cuddly and cute, whether of the furry, scaly, or tiny human variety. He was alsoa Christian, as well as an active member of Grace United Methodist Church,a devoted husband and dad, and the most loyal friend a person could ask for. Known for the size of his heart and his infectious smile, Jon was a gift to all who knew him. Jon also loved to sing and play guitar, and he cherished his memories as a member of Low Water Bridge, a band that included his brother Shea Sullivan, Tony Streetman, and Matt Wimberly.

In his spare time, Jon made things. He was always honing a new craft and loved working with metal and wood, especially carving spoons and making copper jewelry. If he wasn’t making things, he couldoften be found scouring the world for lost and discarded treasures, whether by trekking through the woods, browsing an antique store, flipping through vinyl records, or scanning the shelves of a used-book store for the missing piece to his sci-fi collection.

He is survived by his wife April and stepchildren Lakelynn and Banyan; his devoted mother, Carol W. Stewart and father Jonathan M. Stewart; brothers Joshua W. Stewart and Stephen Shea Sullivan (wife Leilani), and niece Maddie and nephew Tyler; sister Stacey Bergeron (husband Gary) and niece Isabella; cousins Matt Wimberly, Erin Wimberly, Wesley Eaves, and Ashley Verzwyvelt; Uncles Ripp Wimberly and Ethan Scott Stewart; and Aunt Ginger Eaves.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Hugh and Elaine Wimberly and John and Clara Stewart.
