Jonathan Cameron Jones was born on September 5, 1976 in Memphis, Tennessee and died on August 4, 2023 in Monroe. Jonathan grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas and eventually moved to Monroe where he worked as the Traffic Manager for Lagniappe Broadcasting and then Stephens Media Group. Jonathan is survived by his close friends and loved ones including Janna Taylor and Callie Downhour, as well as Mike and Sheila Kay Downhour, Sandy and Wayne Murphy, John and Tammi Runyan, Taurian Collins, Don Kellogg, Barbara Dawson Monk, Robert Jarvis, Rob Tucker, Fuzzy, T-Bayb, Mitch Laing, Morgan and Kelli Decelle, Melissa Touchet, and Ron Book.
Jonathan’s close circle of cherished friends loved him deeply. He was a big personality with a booming voice and a wicked sense of humor. He had a brilliant wit and beautiful smile. Jonathan was also highly intelligent and had an incredible knowledge of all things music and classic films. He found peace in nature and often enjoyed long walks at Black Bayou. He loved the St. Louis Cardinals, Family Guy, and Hunter S. Thompson. He also loved poetry and literature and collected books, rocks, vinyl albums, and assortment of other items each of which he could tell you the best story about in the most animated, entertaining way.
Jonathan was such a kind soul: he checked on his friends; he hurried ahead of women to open doors for them; and he stepped up if a friend needed help moving…or needed anything. His friends and loved ones will miss his random late night texts just to check on them… or tell them he loved them….or send them a song that was ‘life-changing’. Most of all, Jonathan’s friends and loved ones will miss his huge presence and the laughter and light he brought to their lives during his journey which he would surely say was quite a ride.
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!” – Hunter S. Thompson
