Funeral services for Johnny F. Dopson, 86, will be held 4:00 PM Sunday, September 19, 2010, in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe. Rev. David Brown and Rev. Keith Evans will officiate. Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Mr. Dopson was born in West Monroe, Louisiana, on October 23, 1923 to Oscar and Beulah Dopson and passed away on September 17, 2010 in Glenwood Regional Medical Center after a fight with heart disease. Johnny was a World War II veteran and a graduate of Louisiana Tech University. He made his home in Crossett, Arkansas where he retired from Georgia Pacific and later returned to West Monroe in 1988. Johnny was a Deacon at Ridge Avenue Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his brother, Cecil Dopson. Johnny will always be remembered by friends and family as one of the most kind and caring individuals who loved the Lord, his wife and his family. He was a true servant to those he knew and loved. Johnny is survived by his wife of 64 years, Emma Lee Dopson; his son John Dopson; his daughter Kathy Lindow and husband Dan, their two children Kasey and Kyle and their spouses, Allen Fisher and Kiley White Lindow; his sister-in-law Elsie Davis and her son Terry Davis and wife Penny and their children, Rusty Davis, Christopher Davis, and Melissa Croft; his sister-in-law Elizabeth Dopson and her three children Anne Halsell, Clif Dopson, and Larry Dopson. Pallbearers will be Rusty Davis, Terry Davis, Christopher Davis, Allen Fisher, Gary Fisher and Kyle Lindow. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
