Funeral services for Johnnie W. King, Sr. will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday June 4, 2022 at First Baptist Church in Chatham. Visitation is from 9:30 A.M. until the service at the church. Interment will follow at Salem Cemetery in Eros, LA.
Johnnie W. King, Sr. was born to the late Sam and Lou Ella King. He was a truck driver, police officer, oil field worker, and volunteer fireman in Eros, LA. Johnnie was blessed with a large loving family. He married his soul-mate and best friend, Carolyn Sue Roberts, on July 3, 1983. Johnnie and Carolyn will be mostly remembered for opening their home and loving 4 adopted children, 52 foster children, and countless nieces and nephews. The amount of love poured on these children will never be forgotten.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Sue Roberts King; parents, Sam and Lou Ella King; sisters, Laura Mae Kelley, Rennie Ladner, Gena Lynn Guidry; brothers, Houston King, Vernon King, Charles King, Daniel Dean King Sr., and daughter Heather King.
Johnnie is survived by children; Christina King from Kansas; Johnnie William King Jr. from Kearney, NE; Victor King (Donna) from Kearney, NE; Pepper King from Utah; Dustin “Dusty” King from West Monroe; Derek King (Lauren) from Quitman; Ronald King from Columbia, and Daniel King from Texas; siblings, Nannie Sue (Mackie) Henning of Chatham, Vergie Goodwin from Archibald, David (Donna) King from Olla; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a slew of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Gerome Green Jr., PeeWee Ramsey, Joseph Roberts, Tracey Beamesderfer, Luke Beamesderfer, Michael Moak, Mitchell Hartley, Daniel Dean King, and Thomas Earl King.
