Johnnie Morgan Tatum was born April 9, 1929 in Waynesboro, Mississippi and passed away on December 26, 2020 at his home in Choudrant, LA. Johnnie worked as a masonry contractor for Tatum Brothers Masonry Contractors. He served in the United States Navy and was a member of University Baptist Church. He was predeceased by his parents, Winnie and G.C. Tatum; son, J. Dennis Tatum; grandson, Jonathon Tatum; siblings, Lydia and G.C. Tatum, Jr., Wilma and Fountain Williams, Marie and George Lerond, Daisy and Eddie Tatum, Louise and Y.P. Taylor, Bernice and James Tatum, Lorraine and Howell Tatum.

Johnnie is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ophelia Aulds Tatum; son, Danny Tatum and his wife Jane; grandsons, Tyler Tatum, Ryan Tatum and his wife Amy; granddaughter, Andrea Tatum; great-granddaughters, Mackenzie Tatum and Sadie Tatum; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Johnnie Morgan Tatum, 91, were held on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Choudrant Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes in Ruston. I worked with Johnnie & Howell Tatum on many jobs over the years. Most were with Lincoln Builders where my father Lester Liner Sr. was a superintendent on the jobs. I have many fond memories of both Tatum brothers.

Danny and I just heard of Mr Johnny’s passing. He was a dear friend to both of us as well as to my Mom & Dad.
