Funeral services for John William “JW” Smith will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, March 31, 2023 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. With Bro. Joey Pepmiller officiating. Interment will follow at Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until service time at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.
“JW” was born May 24, 1940 in St. Joseph, LA and passed away March 27, 2023 in Baton Rouge, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Alexander and Lillian Marie Whitehead Smith; siblings Mary Purdion, Martha “Lil Johnnie” Smith, Billie Bush, Edward Smith, Walter Smith, Howell Smith, Carl Smith and Joseph Wayne Smith. JW could light up the room just by entering. He loved watching wrestling, and raising his chickens and horses. “JW” could sit for hours on his back porch watching over his “plantation.” He will be remembered as an honest man and would let you know right from wrong even if you didn’t want to hear the truth. “J W” was a family man that loved his wife, children, brothers, sisters and especially C.J. and Cheyanne and C.J’s children.
“JW” is survived by his wife Faye Smith; son Frederick Jones and wife Kimberle; grandchildren Charles Eugene Jones and Jaclyn Cheyanne Jones; 2 great-grandchildren Cambryn Hall and Lillian Jones; siblings Willie Lee Edwards and Bobbie Ann Haile (Willie).
Serving as pallbearers Charles Jones, Logan Moffit, Weston Moffit, Randy Chapman, Ethan Edwards, Shelby Rose and Bubba Whitehead.
