A memorial service for John Michael Dunn (Captain Mike) will be held at 3:00 P.M., Friday, July 14, in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, 1200 Lamy Lane, Monroe, Louisiana. Reverend Ricky Baker will officiate. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until service time under the direction and care of Kilpatrick Funeral Home.
Mike was born on September 28, 1943, in Wyandotte, Michigan, to James and Edith Morris Dunn. He passed away at home in Monroe, Louisiana, peacefully with his wife by his side during the evening of July 11, 2023. Mike received a Master’s Degree plus 30 in music education. He was a music teacher in the Monroe City School System and Captain of the Twin City Queen for many years. Mike played as a drummer in many area bands, and he loved shooting pool with his friends and listening to live music at the VFW on the weekends. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Edith Dunn.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Pat Dunn; brother, Rick Dunn and wife Sue; nephew, Michael Dunn and niece, Leia Marple; and many other cherished family and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Louisiana Hospice, especially Marie Clark and family friend Marsha McGee.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care, 1101 Hudson Lane, Suite D, Monroe, Louisiana 71201 or to a charity of your choice.
